Archdiocese
The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is the see of the Archbishop of America.
The Orthodox Church operates as a family of self-governing, autocephalous churches; the first among them being the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Within the structure of the Patriarchate, the Archdiocese of America is an ecclesiastical province covering the United States of America (the fifty states and the District of Columbia) and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. The Archdiocese consists of the Archdiocesan District (which is personally overseen by the Archbishop) and eight Metropolis (or Dioceses), each shepherded by a bishop with the title of Metropolitan.
The Cathedral is part of the Archdiocesan District, which covers the City of New York, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, southern Connecticut, the District of Columbia, and the islands of the Bahamas.
