OVERVIEW OF FOS SERIES DESCRIPTIONS
Series 9: THE MAGI OF MANHATTAN: IN SEARCH OF THE TRUE GOD: A SCRIPTURAL JOURNEY THROUGH THE NAMES OF GOD (Fall 2010)
The Magi of Manhattan, explores the names of God that “reflect His whole, divine character” and are found throughout the Bible. While His nature is complete and unchangeable, the names reveal the relationship between God and man and how it evolved/changed over the course of creation and human history. The hope is that like the Magi in this search of the one, true God we can come to have a better understanding and relationship with the God that we worship.
Series 8: THE WORD XP: AN INTRODUCTION TO WORD PROCESSING OF THE BIBLE (Summer 2010) Themes discussed included the structure, organization, and groupings of the various books of the Bible; the reasons behind the exclusion of certain books; the Biblical basis for the Liturgical services of the Church; the Bible as history or metaphor; the cultural and historical context of the most prominent Biblical stories; the relationship between the Old and New Testaments; and what the Bible reveals about God and man and our relationship with one another.
